The Five Stages of Change

When going through changes in our personal, professional or business life we tend to go through this process in stages. What we have to keep in mind through the whole process is our end goals and our purpose for engaging in this change. One way we can power through each stage of change is by being aware of what is in store for us at each point. So let’s outline the 5 key stages in the process of change.

The first stage is… EXCITEMENT!!

This is where we are feeling really excited and enthusiastic about our decision to change and we are anticipating all of the positive results that the process of change is going to bring us. For example if you are considering buying a house you can’t wait to have to own space, to be on the property ladder and start to be paying your own mortgage instead of a stranger’s. This change is going to be awesome and you can’t wait, until…

I’ve worked with a lot of people who can find themselves extremely excited and motivated to progress in their business when presented with some of the concepts we discussed in my course. However a common issue they seem to run into consistently is not knowing where to start and not knowing what to focus on first. 

Let's talk about the magnifying glass. I remember growing up and using my magnifying glass to focus the sun onto a dry piece of wood and holding it until I saw smoke. If I had taken the magnifying glass and moved it around all sorts of surfaces I wouldn’t have seen much smoke. Similarly if I had focused the glass on something that didn’t react as well, I would’ve had to focus on it for much longer to see any results. It was when I was patient and held my focus over the surface that reacted best that I saw results. How clear is Your VISION and how are you writing Vision and Mission statements?

People can’t be Passionate and Inspired about a Vision they can’t see……that goes for all of us. Three Steps to Bring your Vision to Life

Step 1 of Writing Vision and Mission Statements is: DEFINE the Vision to get Clarity of something far away, we would call upon our trusty Telescope, as the view is significantly clearer than with the naked eye. This is in the context of creating a vision of at least 5 plus years.

I suggest you pull out the Telescope within and use it to create your IDEAL scene. Use it to look out to what the view will be like 5 years from now. Hold that telescope within up to your eye and look through the lens. At first the view is a little blurry. But as you start to turn the focusing dial your view becomes a little clearer. As you’re turning the dial to make the view clearer you’re creating a clear picture of what your business or life is is like....

Creating vision and mission statements is a great technique to help you get what you want out of life. Vision and mission statements can help you define and clarify your business goals and your personal life.

For example, in a business situation, you could have a Team meeting where everyone can contribute equally. You could ask your Team what strategies worked in the last six or 12 months and why. You could then share what you want to achieve with your team in the next six months and ask them for suggestions on how to go about it. This way, all Team members are involved in the discussion, and as long as you inspire them to share your vision, they will want to help you achieve your objectives.

In a personal situation, you may want to write down how you would picture your perfect day. What would you like to be doing three or six months from now? How would that make you feel? Be playful, creative and inspired when you write about your perfect day. Embrace the emotions your thoughts...

Ever since I started my journey on Personal Development, deliberately and on purpose, I was constantly reminded by those in the know that we need to embrace the concept of Abundance and have an abundant mentality. My interpretation of this subject of abundance is that there is more than enough of everything for everyone. There is an abundance of Food, Water, Love, Money, Opportunity and practically everything else you can think of.
